Why is Roblox not Launching on your Windows computer?

There are many reasons why Roblox is not launching on your Windows PC. Your Firewall, VPN, antivirus, internet connection, out-of-date software, or a recent update may be to blame.

If you see error messages when you try to open Roblox on your Windows computer, they may provide a clue as to what to do next.

Quick Fixes for Roblox to Launch on Windows PC

  • Restart your computer, tablet, phone, or device. If Roblox still isn’t launching on Windows 10 afterward, try one of the steps below.
  • Troubleshoot your internet connection as you may be experiencing temporary or easy-to-fix connectivity issues. You can do so by right-clicking your internet icon in your taskbar and selecting ‘Troubleshoot problems.’

  • Switch off your VPN and see if Roblox works after it’s been disabled.
  • Clear your browser cache and launch Roblox afterward to see if it works.
  • Disable your Firewall or antivirus software and try to launch Roblox afterward.
  • Find out if the Roblox site and server are experiencing issues. You can check this on websites such as istheservicedown.com.

  • Update your graphics card driver and adjust your graphic settings.

Is Roblox Still not Launching on Windows 10?

If Roblox still isn’t launching on your Windows 10 device, try one of these remedies to fix it.

Disable all Ad-Blocker Extensions

Ad-blockers are a great way to enjoy browsing without being bombarded with ads to buy products and services. However, Roblox usually doesn’t work with ad-blocker extensions enabled.

So, if you have any enabled, disable these to try to get Roblox working again:

  • To disable an ad-blocker extension on Chrome, click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the browser to open the menu. Then, hover on ‘More Tools’ and select ‘Extensions.’ A new browser page with all your installed extensions should open up. Toggle the blue switch off to disable any ad-blocking extensions.
  • For Mozilla Firefox, click the three lines in the top right-hand corner of the browser to open the menu. Then, click ‘Add-ons and themes,’ and a new page should open. Choose ‘Extensions’ from the left-hand menu. Toggle the blue switch off to disable any ad-blocker extensions.
  • For Safari, open the browser and select Safari > Preferences… Then, click ‘Extensions.’ To disable an ad-blocker extension, uncheck its checkbox.
  • For Microsoft Edge, click the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the browser to open the menu. Then, select ‘Extensions’ and ‘Manage Extensions’ in the pop-up. Toggle the switch off to disable any ad-blocking extensions.

Set Your Time and Time Zone to Automatic

It may seem silly, but not having your time and time zone set correctly can cause Roblox not to launch on Windows 10.

Try setting yours to automatic:

  • Open your Start menu and type ‘Settings.’
  • Select Settings > Time & Language.
  • Toggle the ‘Set time automatically’ and ‘Set time zone automatically’ settings on using the switch.
  • Click ‘Sync Now’ below these time settings to apply the changes.

Set Your LAN Proxy Settings to Automatic

If Roblox is not starting up correctly, your LAN settings may be at fault. Try setting them to automatic:

  • Search ‘Internet options’ in the search bar in your taskbar. It should be categorized under the Control Panel, not as ‘see web results.’ Then, click on it to open the menu.
  • Once the ‘Internet Properties’ menu is open, click on the ‘Connections’ tab.
  • Click on the ‘LAN settings’ box.
  • A ‘ Local Area Network (LAN) Settings’ menu should pop up. Untick the ‘Use proxy server for your LAN (these settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)’ box.
  • Tick the ‘Automatically detect settings’ box.
  • Click on the ‘ Ok’ box to apply the settings and exit the LAN settings menu.
  • Also click the ‘Ok’ box to exit the ‘Internet Properties’ menu.

Reset Winsock to Default Network Settings

Winsock, short for Windows socket, handles internet settings for applications and programs that require internet access to run. Roblox Player requires the internet, so it may be possible that its Winsock and network settings are causing issues.

To reset your Winsock settings, follow these steps:

  • Search ‘Command Prompt’ in the search bar in your taskbar.
  • Right-click on the Command Prompt.
  • Select ‘Run as administrator.’
  • Once the Command Prompt is open, type ‘netsh winsock reset’ and press the enter key.
  • The Command Prompt should then display ‘Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog.’ It should also advise you to restart your PC.
  • Don’t close the Command Prompt or restart just yet. Instead, type ‘netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt’ and press the enter key.
  • After, a string of ‘Resetting’ text and another prompt to restart your device should show.
  • Don’t close the Command Prompt or restart yet. Instead, type ‘netsh int ip reset’ and press enter.
  • More ‘Resetting’ text should appear and another prompt to restart your device. Type ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ instead and press enter.
  • Then, type ‘ipconfig /release’ and press enter.
  • Next, type ‘ipconfig /renew’ and press enter.
  • Once the Command Prompt finishes the task, you can now close it and restart your PC or device.

Run Roblox as an Administrator

If Roblox is still not launching on your Windows 10 device, you can try this fix. Do bear in mind that running Roblox Player or any other software program as an administrator does come with risks. Only run programs you trust as administrator if absolutely necessary.

  • Search for the Roblox Player in the search bar in your taskbar, desktop, or Start menu.
  • Right-click the Roblox Player and select ‘Run as administrator.’
  • See if Roblox launches and runs correctly this time around.

Fix a Corrupt Roblox AppData Folder

Resetting the Roblox AppData folder in Command Prompt.

If none of the other fixes work, a corrupt AppData folder may be the issue. To fix a corrupt AppData folder, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Find the Roblox Player in the list of installed programs on your PC, right-click it, and select ‘Uninstall.’
  • Once uninstalled, open your Command Prompt.
  • Once in the Command Prompt, type ‘cd Appdata/Local’ and press the enter key.
  • The Command Prompt should display ‘C:\Users\yourpcname\AppData\Local>’ — type ‘rmdir /s Roblox’ and press enter again.
  • The Command Prompt will then ask ‘Roblox, Are you sure (Y/N)?’ — type ‘y’ and press enter.
  • Your AppData directory should now be reset. All you need to do is restart your device. Then, reinstall the Roblox Player and log in again to start fresh without corrupt program files.
