Change Member Permissions on Telegram

Telegram Mobile App:

  • OpenTelegram.”
  • Tap the restricted group.
  • Select the group name in the top bar. 
  • Tap & hold the member name.
  • Tap “Change Permissions.”
  • Toggle off “Send Messages.”
  • Do the same for “Send Media.”
  • Tap the “Tick” icon to confirm.

Telegram Desktop:

  • Launch Telegram.”
  • Open the restricted group.
  • Click the group name to open the info.
  • Right-click the group member name and choose “Restrict User.”
  • Toggle off “Send Messages” and “Send Media.”
  • Click “Save.”

Promote Subscriber/Member to Admin

Channel:

  • Open Telegram.”
  • Open the channel.
  • Tap or click the channel name
  • Select “Subscribers.”
  • Tap & hold or right-click a subscriber.
  • Choose “Promote to Admin.”
  • Set the admin rights.
  • Tap the “Tick” icon or click “Save.”

Group:

  • Open “Telegram.”
  • Open the restricted group.
  • Tap or click the group name.
  • Tap & hold or right-click a group member.
  • Select “Promote to Admin.”
  • Configure the admin roles and give a custom title.
  • Select the “Tick” icon or “Save” to provide admin rights to the person, and hopefully, this will fix the issue.

Link a Group With the Channel

Telegram Mobile App:

  • Open “Telegram.”
  • Open the channel and tap the name to open the info.
  • Tap the “Edit” icon.
  • Tap “Discussion.”
  • Select “Create a New Group.”
  • Enter the new group name and add a display picture. 
  • Tap the “Tick” icon.

Telegram PC:

  • Open “Telegram.”
  • Open the channel you want to link to a group. 
  • Click the group name to open the info pop-up window.
  • Click the three dots.
  • Select “Manage Channel.”
  • Click “Discussion.”
  • Click “Create a New Group.”
  • Add the group name, a display picture, and a group description.
  • Click “Create.”

Now, share the link in the channel so the subscribers can join the group and start sharing messages. 

Remove the Group Member and Add Again

Telegram Mobile App:

  • Open “Telegram.”
  • Open the restricted group and go to its info.
  • Tap & hold the member name.
  • Tap “Remove From Group.”
  • Now tap “Add Members.”
  • Select the contact of the removed member. 
  • Tap “Tick.”
  • Tap “Add”

Telegram Desktop:

  • Launch “Telegram.”
  • Scan the QR code or use your number to log in to your account. 
  • Open the restricted group and click the name to open the “Group Info” pop-up window.
  • Right-click the member name.
  • Choose “Remove From Group.”
  • Click “Remove.”
  • Click the “Add Member” icon.
  • Select the user and click “Add.”

Do the same for the rest of the members and see if they can send messages now. If not, your only option is to delete the group and create a new one with these steps:

Telegram Mobile App: 

  • Open “Telegram.”
  • Open the group and tap the name to access the info.
  • Tap the “Edit” icon.
  • Select “Delete And Leave Group.”
  • Tick “Delete the Group For All Members.”
  • Tap “Delete Group.”

Telegram Desktop: 

  • Open the group in Telegram.
  • Go to the group info.
  • Click on the three dots.
  • Click “Leave Group.”
  • Check “Delete For Everyone.”
  • Click “Delete.”

Now, go to the main interface, select the “Pencil” icon, and choose “New Group” to add the members.

What are the powers of admin in Telegram?

  • Change group or channel info, which includes the name, display photo, and description. 
  • Make the channel private or link a group. 
  • Delete any messages from the members that are offensive or against the group/channel rules and regulations. 
  • Ban or restrict other members or subscribers from adding users, pin messages, or changing chat info.
