Why is my Roblox screen black?

roblox black screen glitch

Roblox is experiencing a black screen issue due to the platform crashing.

The main cause for this is the ‘Graphics Driver’ malfunctioning and not working properly, resulting in the images not being able to load on the screen.

The driver could be outdated, or just be the incorrect one.

Another possible reason why you are experiencing the black screen is corrupted files that are interfering with the functioning of the app.

This may also be a momentary loading error that may have just happened when you came to launch your Roblox.

If Roblox’s server is down, this will create temporary problems when launching the game, and trying to process requests as there will be no connection to the server.

You can check if the server is down by clicking here.

You may be wondering; ‘How do I fix my Roblox screen’

This can be answered with a few of our troubleshooting methods, that should help get rid of this issue.

Fix 1. Check graphics driver

Due to the graphics driver being one of the main reasons why your Roblox is experiencing a black screen, checking that this setting is correct may just fix this problem.

Step 1. Go into your ‘Settings’

Step 2. Select ‘Rendering’

Step 3. Click on ‘General’

Step 4. Click on ‘Graphics Mode’

Ensure this is set correctly.

Fix 2. Reset internet connection

Your internet connection may be interfering with Roblox launching properly.

If your internet is intermittent, Roblox will not be able to get a complete connection to the server.

Switching your internet off by the router or mobile data (if you are using Roblox on a mobile) and then unplugging it for a few minutes will refresh the connection.

Once you have plugged your router back in, turn it on and launch Roblox.

Fix 3. Reinstall Roblox app

Your Roblox app may have downloaded corrupted software in the first install phase when you first got the gaming platform.

Corrupted software and bugs in the data will create interference so removing the app, and reinstalling it will get rid of these problems.

Uninstall Roblox and restart your device to make sure all data has been removed.

Install the app. Once it has been successfully downloaded, relaunch Roblox.

Fix 4. Clear cache

Removing the built-up cache data from your Roblox app will clear up storage space as well as get rid of any faulty software that may have transpired over time which is now causing the app to be problematic.

If you are on an Android device, you can clear the cache by;

Settings > Apps > Roblox > Force Stop > Storage > Clear Data > Clear Cache

On iPhone, you will need to delete the Roblox app, and reinstall it.

The cache from Roblox can be cleared on the PC to;

Step 1. Select the ‘Windows’ button and letter ‘R’ at the same time

Step 2. In the box that appears, type in ‘%Temp%\Roblox’

Step 3. Click ‘Enter’

Step 4. Press ‘CTRL’ and the letter ‘A’ together

You will have successfully removed the cache data.

Fix 5. Shut down running apps

If you have other apps running in the background of your device, while you are trying to launch Roblox, they will interfere with this as the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) will be forced to work on the other apps too.

If you are on a PC, you can close apps running in the background by;

CTRL + ALT + DELETE (at the same time) > Task Manager > Select the app > End Task

On iPhone;

Swipe up on home screen > on app previews, swipe them upwards to delete

On Android;

Settings > Applications > Select App > Force Stop

Removing other apps running in the background will give Roblox more space on your device to operate properly.

All you would need to do is update your character again which will be under the ‘Avatar’ section where you will be able to select ‘Re-Draw’
